My Target

At the end of this activity, you will be competent in identifying and naming different assessment methods used in the classroom.

My Task

·         Observe at least three classes and make a list of the assessment methods used by teachers.
·         In my list, classify assessment methods as to conventional and authentic and alternative.
·         Describe how each assessment method was used, including my personal observations.
·         Confer with my FS teacher for the assessment list.
·         Reflect on my experience.

My Tools

As you visit schools and observe assessment practices in at least three classes, document your observations using the activity forms provided for you in this reference. For your pen-and-paper test items, customize a table of specification, and prepare the test material based on the prescriptions of the school where you do class observation.

.Teacher asked students to explain their work in front of their class.

.Students actively participate in class discussion when teacher asked a question.

.Teacher gave an exercise individually to the students to measure their learning about the discussion.

.Teacher gave students a long quiz to measure their knowledge and understanding regarding the lesson.
Analysis
1.       Was there a variety of assessment methods used by the teacher? How relevant was/were the assessment method/s used?

For me yes, because teacher assessed her student before, during and after the discussion.Like from my observation, when the teacher recall/review their past lesson, students are actively participate and their attention was in the teacher .During the discussion, teacher asked her students by giving board-work and explain their work individually to develop  their self confidence and oral skills as students. While after the discussion, teacher gave her students an exercise or seat-work to measure their understanding to the lesson.

2.       Do you think the expected students’ learning behaviours indicated in the objectives were properly and appropriately assessed through those assessment methods?

For me yes.because on what I observed, students not only develop their thinking skills to answer the given exercise and oral question but also to have a self-confidence and being patience to do their tasks as students.

My Reflections

Being future educator someday, if we are conduct or make an assessment tool to our students be sure that it will developed the different taxonomy level of blooms and multiple intelligence by Howard Gardner. Assessment  Tools should aligned to the learning objectives/outcomes and also consider the domain of learning (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective). It also make use of traditional, alternative and authentic assessment.
